Manifesto for the future

A manifesto for the future

by Simon Belt

The 2017 General Election will be a very strange one. Whilst some very big questions of democracy may have forced the General Election to help clarify the balance of power, the election seems to be manifesto lite at the moment.

Coming in a period when the historic split of Left and Right no longer has substance or meaning, this election is marked by not knowing what the manifesto of each party would contain. Surely we should know what each party stands for without having to wait for the publication of their election manifesto. Not any longer, as this is the moment when it's clear that the moribund party system in the UK is ripe for replacement by something we can shape more imaginatively.
